Peruvian food is a lesson in culinary fusion, with hints of Asian influence due to mass immigration to Peru from Asia in the 19th century, African influences, European influences, and more.

For Eliseo Figueroa, restaurant ownership is about more than just business.
The owner of Lima Taverna said his Plano restaurant is a means to share his love for the food of his native country of Peru.
Lima Taverna, a Peruvian spot that offers seafood and more, is another much-loved go-to for breakfast and brunch, with 4.5 stars out of 214 Yelp reviews.
Lima Taverna, Plano’s well-liked Peruvian restaurant, is expanding to a location slightly farther away from Dallas: Washington, D.C.
Owner Eliseo Figueroa says he’s partnered with a D.C.-based restaurateur and hopes to open the new location in the spring. It’ll be in the Georgetown neighborhood, but things are still in planning stages.
Lima Taverna is all about Peruvian cuisine, as its name might imply. Three different ceviches are on offer, and they’re all equally great. The ceviche mixto (whitefish, shrimp, and calamari with traditional fixings) is a great option for starters, but the leche de tigre is really where it’s at.
This North Texas city is way more than just barbecue. If you’re looking for the perfect food weekend...
On Saturday nights, owner Eliseo Figueroa clears space in the center of the restaurant for a dance floor, playing live upbeat Peruvian music and allowing people, if so inclined, to kick off their shoes and dance in total bliss…
The Plano restaurant is worth seeking out for a welcoming introduction to the varied cuisine of Peru.
Our city does not conceal its virtues. Dallas is bumptious, boastful and shiny -- and so is much of its dining scene.
It’s been too long since I visited Lima Taverna but it’s one of the most interesting, creative and one-of-a-kind restaurants in Plano. It’s hard to find over by Collin Creek Mall, but it’s more than worth the journey for true Peruvian food, no corners cut. Leche De Tigre, Anticuchos de Pollos, Lomo Saltado—you can’t go wrong. There’s even a brunch menu.
The parking lot is getting barren at Collin Creek Mall. Anchor stores like Macy’s are fleeing, and although there are stores remaining — including Sears, Victoria’s Secret, an indoor mini-golf course and something called Amazing Jake’s Food & Fun — the mall’s southern end is growing forlorn.
