It’s been too long since I visited Lima Taverna but it’s one of the most interesting, creative and one-of-a-kind restaurants in Plano. It’s hard to find over by Collin Creek Mall, but it’s more than worth the journey for true Peruvian food, no corners cut. Leche De Tigre, Anticuchos de Pollos, Lomo Saltado—you can’t go wrong. There’s even a brunch menu.

Lima Taverna is all about Peruvian cuisine, as its name might imply. Three different ceviches are on offer, and they’re all equally great. The ceviche mixto (whitefish, shrimp, and calamari with traditional fixings) is a great option for starters, but the leche de tigre is really where it’s at.

Lima Taverna, Plano’s Popular Peruvian Spot, Is Expanding to Washington, D.C.

Lima Taverna, Plano’s well-liked Peruvian restaurant, is expanding to a location slightly farther away from Dallas: Washington, D.C.

Owner Eliseo Figueroa says he’s partnered with a D.C.-based restaurateur and hopes to open the new location in the spring. It’ll be in the Georgetown neighborhood, but things are still in planning stages.
